ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

ANWR Oil: ANWR contains 19,000,000 acres, thats right 19 million acres. The area that has been purposed to open for oil drilling operations is 2,000 acres, yes that right 2 thousand acres! That is 1/10 of 1 percent of the total land mass of ANWR! The light green is ANWR, can you see the tiny red dot located at the end of the arrow pointing to the purposed drilling area?

The purposed drilling area is located on the ANWR coastal plain, far from any rivers, streams or beloved mountains. Photograph on the right is ANWR coastal plain in winter. This is what our democrat lead congress has denied the American public from developing for it oil reserves! Below is the same general area of ANWR coastal plain in summer time.

I'm all for conservation but let us use a little common sense as well. With gasoline currently at $4.00 or more a gallon, still not showing signs of halting it's daily increases, how much longer can America afford not to develop this national resource and start drilling and pumping it's oil reserves?

It seems to me most democrats have no idea what and where this purposed oil drilling is. All they know is it part of ANWR and that puts it off limits for drilling and developing it's vast oil reserve.

Recession Or Depression

At what point does falling wages, job losses, rising interest rates, declining stock market and rising food and fuel cost become a depression? Companies are downsizing, reducing it's work force, closing production facilities.

At what point do small investors panic and sell their stock and bond holding? How much does a companies stock have to fall to trigger this sell off? As home values continue to depreciated at a rate of 15 to 25 percent a year, at what point does a person allow his real estate holdings to go into foreclosure? A $250,000 home is now valued at $175,000 but your still making mortgage payments on a $250,000 dollar mortgage. When do you decide to cut your losses and default on you mortgage?

Income is dropping, purchasing power is declining. Fuel, heating oil and propane has doubled in cost, food and electricity is up by 30 percent. Does this qualify as the start of a depression? Maybe we should stick our heads in the sand like our government and call it a recession, that sounds much less threating.

Are you as tough and resourceful as your grand parents and parents? Can you and your family survive a prolonged recession or depression? What will you do when no one in your house hold has a job, no income coming in? Sounds far fetched but, many families are just one pay check away form being homeless! It is estimated that 3 in 5 families are in just that finical position. It is estimated that 8 in 10 families do not have enough cash and savings to be unemployed more than 4 weeks and still meet mortgage, credit card, utility and auto loan payments.

This is not just an American event, this 'recession' is a world wide event. All it will take is one industrialized country to falter and that will drag the rest of the world into a world wide depression that may last for decades. The so called great depression started in 1927 /1928 and did not end until the United States entered WWII, December 1941.

Are You Prepared For Such An Event? If not, you should be looking very hard and making hard decisions 'Now' to protect you and your family.

Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of US Citizens

Hurray the good guys have won a great battle! This will go down as great victory for law biding citizens and a wake up call for the criminal element!
By Jim Malone
Washington
26 June 2008
For the first time in history, the U.S. Supreme Court has issued a definitive ruling on the right of Americans to own guns. A five-to-four majority of the court ruled that individual citizens have the right to own firearms, and in the process it struck down a 32-year-old ban on handguns in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.

Writing for the five-member court majority, Justice Antonin Scalia said the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution does protect the rights of individuals to own firearms for personal use.

HERO! Who And What Makes A Hero?

Hero's Are Born
that way. They don't just get one morning and say, I think today I'll go commit a heroic act! Let us be very clear on this, the average person is not born a coward nor should they be looked down upon if they fail to qualify in the eyes of others as some kind of a hero. Hero's are reacting to an event in the only way they know how. They are identified by others as a Hero, there were simply reacting in the manner they thought best for a given circumstance.

They were not looking for nor did they except any kind of recognition for the action's they took. It was simply what they deemed to be the right thing to do under that circumstance. Most would prefer not to receive special attention and recognition and just want to get on with what ever they were doing.

Hero's seem to think a bit differently from other people. They are generally risk takers, have an unshakable belief in their own abilities and I think, subconsciously believe that they are indestructible. It is rare that a hero ever thinks about his safety before, during or after performing an act later deemed to he heroic by those around him. Often as not, he or she will consider the even as just another day on the job.

Two times in my life I have been singled out and proclaimed by other as committing a heroic act, and both time I was reacting to events out of my control and acted simply because I was there and I felt then as I do not, I was only doing my job. There's nothing heroic in doing ones job.

Next week I'll tell you how the cow eat the cabbage!

Cell Phones Endanger Families Health

Cell Phone Addiction can be a danger to you and your families health! Are you addicted to your cell phone? Ask yourself these questions.
Do I talk more than 30 minutes a day on my cell phone?
Do you talk or text message on a cell phone while driving?
Do you send or receive text messages on your cell phone?
Do you send or receive photographs or videos on your cell phone?
Do you answer your phone when talking to a 'live' person?
Do you talk or text message while in restaurants or other public places?
Do you play games on your cell phone?
If you answered 'yes' to one or more of these questions you have an addition that can be dangerous to you and your families health.

Driving and Cell Phone use has been shown to be a dangerous distraction. Even hand free cell phone use has little effect on the level of distraction. This places you and your passengers at an increased risk of being involved in a traffic accident. The first step in curing this addition is to admit that 'you are not' that important! If you miss a call or do not return a call The World Will Not Come to An End! You and those calling you are just not that important. Get over yourself, do not risk life and limb for a phone call or text message.

Getting Started is simple. Do not call or answer calls in restaurants, movie theaters, while driving. Learn to use the Off button on your cell phone. At home turn off you cell phone after 8 or 9 PM and don't turn it back on until after 8 AM. You can do it, really, you can do it. Tell your friend you are a recovering addict and limiting cell phone use is part of you treatment.

Talk To Your Coworkers And Friends face to face, in person. Wow, what a concept talking to a real person! Develop personal relationships with your friends again. You will find this fun and gratifying. You will enjoy knowing what a person looks like, not just a 10 digit number on a LED display.

Soon boys and girls I will tell you the truth about Humpty Dumpty and how he fell of that wall.

Getting Even With Our Children

Getting Old does not mean being dead!Getting older is much like getting to be 5 years old again. It's our time in life that one can set on our front porch and drink a glass of wine, smoke a cigar, half dressed, hair uncombed, no makeup and just enjoy the sights and sound all around us. Generally our children and neighbors let us do this not out of respect for managing not to die, but attribute it to an old age mental condition made popular by doctors wanting to see you 'again' in his office to drain another $500.00 from your old age check.

Stop and Smell the Roses I don't know who coined that phase, but I'll bet he was an old person. When was the last time you took time to watch a bird building a nest or catching a grasshopper to feed it's young, watch a praying mantis hatch from it's egg sack or watch a spider catch a fly?

5 year olds and those of us that are beginning to advance in age, have many thing in common. We both see this world for the wondrous place that it is. Full for beautiful and strange unexplainable things. Yea I know some scientist or preacher will tell you it's simple evolution or god's hand at work, but I really don't think either of them know what there talking about! I don't think it's that simple.

I think I will go set on my front porch, sip a glass of very nice port wine my daughter and son-n-law give me. After all it is mid-morning, temperature is still fairly cool and above all, just because I want to.

Food Cost On the Rise And I Don't Care

Well maybe I do care, but, I'm not in a panic about it as many seem to be. Even with the cost of food increasing, we Americans still have the widest selection, most abundant, cheapest food supply in the world.

We moan and groan about the price of a loaf of bread but on the other hand, this is the first time in many years that our nations wheat farmers have made a reasonable profit on their hard work to bring us wheat, corn, soybeans for bread and cereals and other food products.

Grain cost has increased mostly because of record high crude oil prices and failed crops in several countries, most notable is Australia and the ever increasing demand for more and better food in developing countries like China and India. They have lost their wheat crops 2 years in a row! When you have more than 2 billion Chinese and Indians demanding more wheat and other foods, this can only cause short supplies and price increases.

Agriculture as with many other businesses are linked together, what effects one filters down effecting many. High crude oil price effects farming cost, farming fuel, transportation of crops and livestock. Feed cost for livestock has gone up. Fertilizer cost is up, equipment cost, diesel, planting seed have all increased. Yet our farmers can pass little of this cost increase along to the consumers.

I don't complain, I'm only thankful that our farmers produce so much food at such a low cost that I can eat better spending less at the grocers than any other country in the world.

Saving Yourself And Family From Disaster

Credit Cards are a finical trap. They give you a false sense of finical security. The make you feel secure and give the ability to make those impulse buys. They make you feel totally in control when in reality you are not they are.

If you have more than one {1} credit card, you have too many cards! Choose the one with the lowest interest rate and cut up the rest. Always pay 'more' than your minimum payment. A $1000.00 credit card debt can easily cost you $1300.00 or more a year. Why should or would you want to give them 300 or 400 dollars of your hard earned cash every year?

Pay Cash for all of you living expenses. Rent, mortgage, automobile, fuel, food and utilities. This does two things, first you can't spend more that you have and you can't incur late fees or over limit fees. Second this forces you to ask yourself do I really need this item or is this one of those I'd like to have things.

If you are being forced to use a credit card to pay for your living expenses, your are living beyond your means! Don't buy unless you can pay cash! As food and fuel cost rise more and more people are using credit cards to pay for day to day living expenses, this is the trap..

Hydrogen Powered Automobile Hits Show Room Floor In July

FoxNews Extract: June 16, 2008
Honda Motor Co. has begun commercial production of its new zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell car. This midsize sedan, which runs on hydrogen and electricity, emits only water vapor. Vehicle offers two times better fuel efficiency than a gas-electric hybrid and three times that of a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle. This car will be available starting July to a limited number of customers in southern California.

Where are the American big 3 auto makers? Why don't they have a auto like this on the market? Once again the Japanese's have beaten American auto makers to market with a product that Americans need and want. No more gasoline use!

Yes I know that there are few hydrogen fueling stations, however demand will create a supply side and soon hydrogen fueling stations will be everywhere.
